I was denied a job based on jealousy! The female contact person looked at me like her competition and absolutely didn’t want me hired! How do you deal with this..? It’s weird and frustrating- being attractive can absolutely hurt your chances at even getting your foot in the Door!

Just saw a job posting for company that had as "preferred qualifications" a list of other job titles they want to see...job title and codes that are all from that same company. Can you say "internal hire" without actually saying it?

I studied all of these (amazing) tips yet I did HORRIBLY in an interview today. I was extremely nervous and the interviewer started asking me random behavioural questions :'( This is your reminder NOT to be too hard on yourself if: you study, practice and still have a not-so-great interview. Life will place you where you will grow the most. Trust in your process and keep pushing through!!! Good luck to all and don't forget to study behavioural questions too lol.

It can be easier to train for war, but much harder to fight battles with courage. Acing an interview, appearing to have all the right answers and getting what you want by saying what you think others want to hear is not the real battle. Being a leader, a good employee and faithful steward, working through challenges when things go wrong, taking responsibility and being a team player with others you disagree with is better than 10,000 successful interviews. Getting a job you want or wanting the job you have? Please learn how to make the job you have a critical part of the best company and service to your community than all others. If you work for an immoral company or cause, quit and look for another way to utilize your strengths for good. The purpose and impact for good is more important than the reputation of the company you work for. Strive to make the world a better place to live in for all. Stop trying to impress the "wrong" people. God bless. Interview question, "Tell me what you think your greatest weakness is?" PAR: "I used to try to please people who would use me for their own advantage. I learned that was not beneficial to me or my career. Now I don't do that anymore. I now only seek to be a valuable team member while expressing my own unique individual talents within a healthy and moral environment."

I’m looking to transition out of teaching and I have been looking for over a year. My hope is to find a role in customer success, Edtech, a trainer, etc. This job market since I graduated during the recession of the early 2000s has changed significantly. **My hope is to find a better work culture, better pay, and more autonomy with my life.

I really love this video especially for younger workers. However, as an experienced person who has tried EVERYTHING, I think we need to look at the dysfunctions of organizations. Since the recession, most Gen X believe having a job is good enough. I haven't seen anyone promoted since I started working in the '00s. Also, I've seen some of the most toxic situations where HR is aware of them but their hands are tied to. I think we need to be very aware of 'Disney-fying' the workplace when it's truly only a place to work. I think a more helpful video might be on how people get promoted by making their boss feel comfortable, doing the easy jobs or staying out of the line of fire. Or maybe something on how to hold organizations to account or which organizations are the healthy ones that people should want to work at. Anyway, my $.02, thank you for all you do!!!

What do you think of pulling the old trick, when finding out what the industry pays, saying that a competitor offered you more money, to see if the company ups their offer.

The best interviews are where they have a chat, a conversation with you, rather than an interrogation. Talking with you, rather than at you, makes you more comfortable and open up. It also shows they care more.

The fact is, a lot of interviewers are looking for reasons to not hire you, rather than reasons to hire you. Many set you up to fail, not succeed.

Look, I have got my last two jobs just by being myself, by being honest. They see me as I am, and they can take it or leave it. It has landed me two jobs, whereas I got no jobs by practicing interview tips. My mother says to me before interviews "Just be yourself, as yourself is good".

I don't think there could possibly be any worse interviewers than chiropractors looking for associates to assist with the patient load. They will frequently ask irrelevant personal questions such as are you married. Have you ever been married and got a divorce. How many kids do you have. What debts do you owe and how much. What religion are you. What nationality is your last name. Then they might ask how you got interested in chiropractic, an appropriate question of course, but they'll respond with something like "oh, really!!!!!!" Or they might say that's an interesting story, but with a real sarcastic tone like they don't believe you or that your response was too cliche or something. Then some of them will totally waste your time with a 3 hour interview (only to not get hired in the end) so they can use it as a soap box to describe their opinions about chiropractic and how they think things should be done and that they're right and everyone else is wrong and all that stuff. Most chiropractors come out of school with a ridiculous amount of debt that they will likely not be able to pay off for 25 years if ever. Those who can't secure the capital to buy out a practice or do their own business or those who tried unsuccessfully, end up looking for salaried associateships at chiropractic offices. The opportunities for chiropractors to get a salaried job in the field or branch to a similar field are very slim. So many successful chiropractors totally taken advantage of desperate chiropractors trying to find a way to make a living. Long story, but this is what happens in the chiropractic profession.
